Over 128,000 Canadians have died for our country in the last 118 years. This dawn photo of Highway 11’s flags reminds us that every sunrise is a gift we get to live, but a day they never saw.

#86) is proud to support and partner with Veterans
Voices of Canada for the annual Flags of Remembrance initiative. While Flags of Remembrance is an
independent tribute program rather than an official Royal Canadian Legion
framework, our branch proudly stands alongside this powerful community display
each autumn.

We are proud to share that five outstanding Wetaskiwin Legion veterans and members received Flags of Remembrance Appreciation Certificates today for their service.

The Display:
Each
September, 128 full-sized Canadian flags are raised along our community
pathways, flying proudly until November 12th.
The Symbolism:
Each of
the 128 flags represents approximately 1,000 fallen or missing Canadian
military and RCMP personnel from the Boer War to modern international
missions—honouring roughly 128,000 souls.
Plaques of Honour:
Individual flags are accompanied by a sponsored Plaque of Honour, dedicated to
specific past or present military members, RCMP, or first responders.
Through collaborations like this,
the Wetaskiwin Legion continues its core mission: ensuring that the sacrifices
of our veterans are never forgotten.
