The Wetaskiwin Branch No. 86 of the Royal Canadian Legion has gone through a dramatic change. Our members took a vote on November 4, 2014 to keep our building and work hard to overcome obstacles that have put us in a deficit position in the past.

The history of the Legion was originally designed to help veterans after they came home from their military duties. As the years progressed, the mandate of the Legion has changed towards helping the community in which it resides. The Legion has supported many community projects and programs making our community a better place to live, work and play. Now we need your help to remain an important part of this community.

The Legion has formed a Sustainability Committee made up of members and professional people to find ways for the preservation of the Wetaskiwin Legion. Our present goal involves a change in the ways we handle our affairs. Through strategic planning sessions, we are brainstorming marketing ventures and initiatives, changing the structure of our membership, changing the way we prepare and serve food, and beverages, considering structural changes to the interior of the building and monies needed for repairs and maintenance.

As a member, you pay a $50 membership fee but only $16 of that stays in the local Legion Branch with the rest going to Command to cover their expenses. This is not enough to cover all the services we provide to our members and to the community. You can help by utilizing the Legion more often and please do but there are other ways as well.

  • Donate to our Legion Legacy Fund for the building changes and repairs.

  • Donate in-kind labour and services

  • Donate materials needed for renovations and maintenance.

All donations are important. Along with other avenues of advertising your generosity, a WALL OF RECOGNITION with the following levels of financial or in-kind gratitude will be displayed prominently within our Legion.

platinum$2500     gold$1000     Silver$500     Bronze  $250

Yours Respectfully
